Former Freelance Journalist Mungai Eve Opens Phone Shop After Unsuccessful Journalism Career

Former content creator Mungai Eve has officially launched an iPhone retail shop, marking a significant shift from digital content creation to physical business.

The grand opening took place over the weekend of March 29, 2026, drawing media attention and several Kenyan personalities, including representatives from 2mbili TV and Trudy Kitui .

During the launch, Eve introduced her boyfriend to the public for the first time, making the event both a business unveiling and a personal milestone .

The move into retail represents a new chapter for Eve, who built her brand as a leading digital content creator. Her YouTube channel, co-founded with former partner Director Trevor, grew to over 750,000 subscribers at its peak . The channel was later rebranded as Kenya Online Media following their separation in early 2024 .

After the split, Eve launched her independent platform, Mungai Eve Media, in March 2024, signaling her intention to rebuild her brand . Her latest venture into retail suggests a strategic diversification beyond content creation .

Eve has previously been open about her career journey. In past interviews, she disclosed that she dropped out of a journalism course due to financial constraints—her father could no longer afford tuition fees during the COVID-19 pandemic . Despite that setback, she built a successful YouTube career, at one point earning up to KSh 1.5 million per month at her peak .

She has also spoken about her views on employment, stating in a 2023 interview, “Employment is not my calling,” explaining that she felt traditional employment would hinder her from achieving her goals .

As of publication, Eve has not indicated whether she plans to continue content creation alongside her new business.
