Content creator and entrepreneur Dora Obwaka, known online as “Jesus Girl,” has unveiled her latest vehicle purchase—a Mazda CX-5 crossover—marking a personal upgrade from her previous Nissan Note hatchback.
Obwaka shared footage of the vehicle with her followers, showing her family celebrating the delivery. The clip highlighted a moment where her mother laid hands on the car to offer a dedication prayer before Obwaka took the driver’s seat.
The car purchase coincides with another major personal milestone. Earlier this month, Obwaka marked three years of continuous sobriety, reflecting on her recovery from a severe seven-year substance dependency that began during her teenage years.
In a public update marking her August 18 sobriety anniversary, Obwaka acknowledged that choosing to leave behind familiar social environments and habits was daunting, but ultimately laid the groundwork for her current physical and financial stability.
Obwaka’s battle with addiction began at age 17, progressing from alcohol and marijuana to heavy narcotics including heroin. The dependency severely disrupted her studies at Daystar University and strained her family support systems before she entered Teen Challenge, a faith-based residential rehabilitation program, in November 2018.
Following her recovery and environmental restructuring, Obwaka established her digital platform under the moniker “Jesus Girl”. She has since utilized her online presence to discuss addiction recovery, educate families on supporting relatives through rehabilitation, and destigmatize conversations surrounding youth mental health.
For Obwaka’s audience, the transition from her Nissan Note to the Mazda CX-5 serves as a tangible marker of sustained personal and financial recovery following years of institutional rehabilitation.
