29-Year-Old Woman Arrested in Kilifi with Ksh 7.6 Million Bhang: Jimba Drug Bust Details

2 min read

In a major blow to the narcotics trade in the Coast region, police in Kilifi County have arrested a 29-year-old woman found in possession of a massive haul of bhang valued at Ksh 7.6 million. The high-stakes operation took place in the Jimba area, where security officers intercepted the suspect following a tip-off from the public regarding suspicious activities in the neighborhood.

Upon conducting a raid, officers discovered several gunny bags stashed with the illegal herb, neatly packaged and ready for distribution. Preliminary investigations suggest that the consignment was destined for the local market and parts of Mombasa, where the demand for the drug has been on the rise. The suspect is currently being held at the local police station as authorities intensify their search for her accomplices and the main kingpins behind the shipment.

The Kilifi police department has lauded the cooperation of local residents, noting that such breakthroughs are only possible through community-policing efforts. This latest bust comes at a time when the government has declared a total war on drug trafficking in the coastal region, aiming to safeguard the youth from the devastating effects of narcotics. The 29-year-old is expected to be arraigned in court once the Anti-Narcotics Unit completes its documentation.
